SR1 (Synthesizers Rules 1978-1983) - Various Artists

This is what I've been doing lately. Listening to old synth stuff. It started this summer after I made the shoegazer compilations. I wanted to do a playlist for myself with new wave post-punk synth like Tuxedomoon, Cabaret Voltaire and so on. Soon I found myself in a sea of minimal wave, flexipop compilations, french new wave, and rare synth singles. It was wonderful! Anyway it's a jungle out there and here is the best (I think) of what I found. If you want to know and hear more you should visit blogs like Viva flexipop, Mutant Sounds, Soundhead, Saltyka, Minimal Wave, Old Punks Analog Cyberpunk Page, Phoenix Hairpins to name a few. It's alot good stuff out there. I'm a sucker for pop so it tends to lean on the popier side. So without further a do. Here's the first of the SR (Synthesizer Rules) compilations. Enjoy!

SR 1
1. New Machine/Tuxedomoon
2. TVOD/The Normal
3. Something Came Over Me/Throbbing Gristle
4. Kick That Habit Man/Monte Cazazza
5. Private Plane/Thomas Leer
6. Day Breaks, Night Heals/Thomas Leer and Robert Rental
7. Double Heart/Robert Rental
8. Back To Nature/Fad Gadget
9. Definition Of Honour/Second Layer
10. Blank Clocks/The Future
11. The Dignity of Labour (part 1)/The Human League
12. Stay With Me Tonight/Alex Fergusson
13. I Think I Think Too Much/Ed Sirrs
14. Living In A Vacuum/Higher Primates
15. Love By Number/Ash Wednesday
16. Memphis, Tennessee/Silicon Teens
17. Mekano/SPK
18. Nag Nag Nag/Cabaret Voltaire

Moderne - "Moderne" (Arabella 1980)

Hello again! A long time no see. I've been moving and stuff and had have too little time. Anyway, during the summer I've been listen to a lot of old synthpop/ minimalwave stuff from the early eighties so I'll be back soon with a compilation of old syntheziser goodies. Meantime listen to this french LP from 1980. It's from the french group Moderne. Moderne got together in 1979 in Tours, south of Paris. They released two albums and a couple of singles in the early eighties. This record was actually mixed in a studio in Düsseldorf where Kraftwerk recorded their first two albums (there some trivia for you).

How Do I - Pluto (Cloudland 1993)

This Danish band took a different view on shoegaze on their first LP Submarine which I hope to post as soon as I can digitalise it. This is their second LP. Less noisy but still great pop tunes. One of my favourite LPs actually. The drummer and song writer Anders Remmer can now be found in such a great band as People Press Play and Dub Tractor.
